That is to say, I actually have time to speak now that I'm not pushing myself to near death trying to make sure I graduated college(And I'm not entirely joking about that either. I scared people on my last day when I passed out in the library. Sleep deprivation is a helluvu drug.) Which I did, btw. One of 3 people who passed a class with 14 students, but I did. I don't know what to do with myself anymore because job searches are slow and trying to figure out what to do in the downtime is even slower.

I'm not entirely sure why I'm even saying all this anyway. I guess I could maybe try my hand at more show vectors but I'm like 2 years out of practice and my current version of Photoshop handles paths differently than I'm used to.

I am working on a couple of games right now as programmer so I guess I could devote myself to those. Get my portfolio a little more banging than it currently is. Which is to say not very much. Another thing I unfortunately had to neglect to secure graduation.

Also I suppose I should leave this here since my attendance is low and I still get asked from time to time: Yes you can use the vectors so long as they aren't OC's. Those you gotta ask the OC owner.

So to my surprise quite a few of you have stuck around so I figure I'll just drop a heads up as to what's been going on.

Still school stuff really. I'm onto my senior year of college so I'm in the hardest, most work intensive run I'll be facing here. Other than that, I've kinda sorted out what I actually want to do. I'm not the most fantastic 3D modeler, considering how long it takes me to make something that doesn't look like a lego model, but even then, I'm not /bad/ per se. I did recently discover that I'm not bad at programming. Been messing around with that a lot lately with the help of a few people I know and some intensive self-study. I'm really considering that as my career option, but I still want to stick with the 3D. The happy medium for this would be Technical Artist but that's gonna be more work than either of the previous two by themselves.

In the actual productive news, thanks to the coolest instructor on the planet, who also happens to be a really good musician. *cough* www.bossazuzu.com/ *cough* I may actually get a paid programming gig. This is, assuming, the project gets funding and I was told to not hold my breath but the idea itself is cool.

Also, back in January, I took part in the 2014 Global Game Jam, working along side a team of 10 others. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's an event that happens every year where a team of people have about 48 hours to make a game. Any kind of game; board game, video game, card game, whatever. Well, our team decided to be daring and make a video game. And not one of us have ever actually made a video game, let alone even try to get our 3D models out of the modeling program. I got elected as programmer, being one of 2 people in the group with any sort of experience (used loosely) with Unity and scripting. After some serious thought, planning, and a bit of creativity, we made our game. Complete with 10 levels, sound, and models. a startup menu, a win/lose scenario, and all the bugs you could ever hope to find in a game made by 11 sleep deprived newbies. But the fact was we not only had a playable game, we had more content in it than any of us ever hoped to get. I stayed up for 3 days straight working, which landed me the title of Lead Programmer and technical artist. I think I learned more those 3 days than the entire college quarter.

Anyways, the premise of the game is you have to bounce a laser off mirrors to have it reach the end box, which will open the door letting you move onto the next level. you control a little robot who's body acts like a 4 sided mirror, letting you bounce the laser off yourself if you need to. You can pick up the mirrors and drop them somewhere else so you can arrange a mirror path for the laser. You can fire the laser off whenever you want but you only have a limited number of shots so use them wisely.

If anyone wants to play it, it can be downloaded here: globalgamejam.org/2014/games/m…

alternatively, the game is super buggy and while I have been working on the game in my free time and have fixed a huge portion of the bugs, the version there has not been updated since the event so it will still have all the original problems. If you don't want to put up with the bugs but are still curious about the game, there's a video of the gameplay here:

Don't ask about the name it was not my decision. :P

so yeah, there's my out of the blue, long winded self update. I wonder how many will actually read this. XD

I'll make a journal about the game when I get it patched up enough to upload.

Pretty sure it's obvious at this point due to the lack of any real uploads in a while but may as well make it official.

Putting this account on hiatus for an undetermined amount of time. Every new college quarter I say that the work loads increase and that's true. But this quarter it jumped in scale so harshly that it's basically when I'm not working, I'm either sleeping, eating, or hanging around in the college hallways as an excuse to have a break. I'm simultaneously learning how to rig fully modeled characters for animation, model those characters, and creatures, and script in both Unity and Unreal engines.

On top of all this, I finally have a job I can call real, designing models to be printed by a 3D printer so any time I find myself with a surprising lack of work, I got that to do. Not really any income from it yet as I'm /technically/ a founding member(use that loosely) and the company is in it's formation phase but the project has a lot of people, and some smaller companies from the game industry backing it up so I'm confident it'll get off the ground.

I fully understand if anyone unwatches because at this stage, idk when I'm gonna be able to come back to this. Could be a couple months, could be years.

I want to apologize to the people expecting some things from me. (You know who you are)

This college quarters work load is starting off intense and only getting more so, so if you are expecting things from me, it may take a little bit of time getting them to you. I have to make sure the classwork is done before moving onto other things, as much as I would prefer to do those other things first. I will get them to you, just keep in mind my schedule is rather tight right now to the point that I couldn't even make time for the position as a programming tutor I wanted to do this quarter. :(

And to anyone else who may not care. Making tree's for video games is more fun than it probably should be.

Quarter over

2 min read
2 A's and a TBA(which will be a C if I'm lucky, given my knowledge of that instructors industry level grading policy and me running out of time)

Apparently I'm being recommended by my programming instructor as a tutor since I did so well. Didn't see that coming. If I go through with that then I may actually have a bit of cash flow I can finally call mine. Aced my final and completed it 2 hours before everyone else. I need to track down my old Computer Basics teacher from highschool to thank him. if not for that class, I probably wouldn't have done so well.

As for this break, Getting wisdom teeth yanked, need to learn Blender since I'm gonna be working on a project a friend offered(hopefully I can get away with using 3DS Max instead. We'll see.) and start a few portfolio pieces.

Also E3 was amazing and I can't wait for a lot of those games to come out. Watchdogs is everything I hoped it would be.

And last but not least, hopefully I'll try and do some art. No promises on the pony art though. Kinda slipping out of that phase.
